Records, 1952-1957, including correspondence, letters, telegrams, audits, and printed matter, of the battery maker and battery junker. These records contain audits on both the Folsom-Nicholas Co., 1952-1953, and its successor, The Folsom Workall Co., Inc., 1954. The last audit is very comprehensive, and includes a list of stockholders, and the amount of stock each owned, as well as a balance sheet and other accounting analyses. The largest stockholders (100 or more shares) included James E. Folsom (1908-1987), James E. Folsom (1949- ), Mrs. Myrtle Haigler, Turner Insurance & Bonding Co., R.H. Culpepper, W.J. Walker, and J.P. Suit. There is also some correspondence, 1953-1954, about obtaining a patent and a trademark for the company with the Commissioner of Patents. Proxy statements, 1955, of James E. Folsom (1908-1987); notices, 1955 Mar., to individuals of stock purchasing options, and weekly gross sales, 1956-1957, of the company are also included, as well as other items. During 1955 and later the company was advertised as Folsom Workall Batteries.

The Workall Company, Inc., began as the Folsom-Nicholas Co., probably in 1952. The president and chairman of the Board, G.S. Nicholas, resigned 1952 Feb. 22, and 1954 Sept. 1 the name of the company became The Workall Company, Inc. In early 1955 the company was informally known as Folsom Work-All Batteries. Hudson C. Miller, Jr., became president in 1954 or 1955, and E.R. Jones became Secretary-Treasurer at about the same time. The company was located in Cullman, Ala. ...
